Abu Dhabi Nanny Salary: 2026 Rates by Area & Arrangement

Abu Dhabi families draw from the same candidate pool as Dubai, which is why salary expectations in the capital track Dubai closely rather than sitting far below it. What differs is the shape of the market: more villa households, longer distances between communities, and a smaller pool of live-out candidates who already live nearby. This guide covers what Abu Dhabi families actually pay in 2026.

Abu Dhabi nanny salary ranges, 2026

• Live-in nanny (full-time): AED 1,700–4,000+ per month base salary, plus accommodation, meals, health insurance, and an annual return flight. Sitting just below the equivalent Dubai band, as covered in our Dubai salary guide.
• Live-out nanny (full-time): AED 3,000–6,000+ per month cash salary. The top of this range applies to candidates with recent references from other Abu Dhabi families.
• Part-time or hourly: AED 30–55+ per hour, with a premium for evenings, weekends, and short bookings that are not worth a long commute.
• Nanny-housekeeper (combined role): AED 2,100–4,600+ per month for a live-in candidate who also covers light housekeeping.

These are market ranges, not legal minimums. UAE domestic worker law sets out benefit entitlements such as leave, insurance and flights, but it does not fix a minimum salary.

The transport question that sets Abu Dhabi apart

The single biggest difference between budgeting in Abu Dhabi and budgeting in Dubai is distance. Communities such as Khalifa City, Al Raha, Yas and Saadiyat are a long way from the neighbourhoods where most live-out candidates rent, and public transport between them is limited.

In practice this means one of three things, and it is worth deciding which before you start interviewing:

• You pay a transport allowance. Commonly AED 300–600 per month on top of salary for a live-out nanny travelling from the city centre or Mussafah.
• You hire live-in instead. Distance is the reason a larger share of Abu Dhabi households go live-in than in Dubai, and it is usually the cheaper answer once a daily taxi is priced in.
• You shortlist only candidates who already live nearby. The smallest pool, but the most stable arrangement, because a two-hour daily commute is the most common reason a live-out nanny leaves within the first year.

Does salary vary by area within Abu Dhabi?

• Saadiyat, Yas Island, Al Reem, Al Raha Beach: the top of the ranges above. High concentration of households hiring at the same time, and a commute that candidates price in.
• Khalifa City, Al Bateen, Mohammed Bin Zayed City: mid to upper range. Villa households where live-in is common and a staff room is already part of the house.
• Corniche, Al Khalidiyah, Al Nahyan and the older city districts: mid-range, and the easiest area to hire live-out because many candidates already live within a short drive.
• Al Ain and the Western Region: lower end of the range, with a much smaller local candidate pool. Budget for relocation or expect a longer search.

How Abu Dhabi compares to the rest of the UAE

The gap with Dubai is a few hundred dirhams, not a different market. Candidates move freely between the two cities, so an Abu Dhabi offer that sits well under the Dubai range for the same experience tends to lose the candidate rather than save money.

What pushes an Abu Dhabi nanny's expected salary higher

• A valid UAE driving licence. It matters more here than in Dubai, because school runs and activities involve real distances.
• Recent references from other Abu Dhabi families.
• Fluent English, particularly for homework support with school-age children.
• Newborn and infant experience specifically, rather than general childcare.
• Willingness to cover light housekeeping alongside childcare.
